School Takeover

BP School Takeover is a wonderful event dedicated to serving the youth of our communities. The focus of our event is to celebrate the importance of reading while building healthy youth/adult relationships. School Takeover provides an open & organic fellowship for continuous community unification. Brandon Publishing and our partners, understand the importance of literacy focused projects. Our 'School Takeover' event has provided many positive outputs for all involved. Each event calls for at least 30 adult volunteer readers to partner with 2nd grade students over a two hour lunch break.  Reading buddies (adults and youth) exchange names, likes, favorite colors, sports teams, subjects and more as they prepare to read. After reading, students and adults are able to share what they've learned from the book and also what they've learned from their buddies. Domino's pizza has been a proud sponsor and provider of food for our youth and adults to share in.

In This Together

Students at Freeman elementary school reports say were effected highly by the results of the Flint Water Crisis. Volunteers from the Flint community wanted to make sure that they play their part in encouraging the youth in the Flint area.

Moments From School Takeover 2017 (Flint, MI)

I truly believed that I’d come here today to help a child. But instead, that child helped me.
