Adding The Financials To Literacy

by Kellen Brandon

Flint, MI — Quan Jamison, Accountant to the stars, is lending her expertise to students in her hometown of Flint, Michigan. In 2020 Jamison released to the world, A is For Accounting; ABCs of Financial Literacy for Kids and received monumental success. Jamison has witnessed many financial setbacks for adults in her 15 + year career. Although her job is partially to assist in cleaning up these negatives, Jamison decided to go upstream to help lessen the financial problems of the future. She believed it was best to start with the youth.

As a full time VP of Finance & Accounting at Formosa Group, Jamison still finds time to dedicate herself to providing resources for children that are easy to understand and apply. Her hope is that accounting will spark curiosity and preparedness throughout their lives. She believes setting a foundation of financial literacy in adolescence will benefit youth as they grow. There are many different forms of literacy, and the financial portion is just as important as any other. On Monday May 8, she will be donating books to students at Freeman Elementary school in partnership with Brandon Publishing & Dominos Pizza’s literacy initiative—Pizza & Pals. Jamison recently authored a second book dedicated to providing financial literacy for youth entitled Paying With Plastic. -KB
